Initiative Musik has been coordinating the German joint presentation at the entertainment, culture, and technology conference South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, in the US since 2010. At the trade fair stand and in German Haus, the high-profile and top-class collaborative program from Germany offers keynotes, panel discussions, pitches, and concerts with more than one hundred outstanding national and international speakers across five to six theme days.


The German joint presence at SXSW in Austin is part of the Foreign Trade Fair Participation Program of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. German Haus is additionally supported by the German Federal Government's Culture and Creative Industries Initiative, several German federal states and cities, and the German Consulate General in Houston, Texas.

 

Nearly 1,000 of the more than 70,000 accredited professionals attending SXSW come from Germany, making the German delegation the second largest from Europe. SXSW is the leading conference for creative industries and is one of the biggest events featuring German businesses and culture abroad with countless performances and appearances.

TRADE SHOW STAND
SXSW TRADE SHOW

  • In 2017, a total of 622 companies presented at the trade show (exhibition areas: Exhibit Hall 2 and Exhibit Hall 3) in the centrally located Austin Convention Center
  • At the joint stand, with an area of about 100 square meters, presentations and matchmakings for German exhibitors will take place from March 11 to 14, 2018
  • Along with the joint exhibition area, for the first time there will also be the possibility for companies to present themselves on an area of about 3 to 6 square meters
  • Along with flyers and targeted branding, a joint trade-show catalog will advertise the daily programs
  • The joint stand is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy pursuant to a resolution by the German Bundestag
  • The company organizing the stand is expected to be announced in mid-August 2017. Applications for participating at the stand and SXSW accreditations at special rates for German companies can be booked there, presumably at the end of September
